Spring LABOR Blitz
We are at a pivotal moment in the history of our country and the Iowa Labor Movement has a real opportunity to change the direction of our state and our nation. We need you to help us win critical elections at the state and federal level and for that reason we are beginning our Labor 2026 Program early with a Spring campaign blitz.
The Iowa Federation of Labor and National AFL-CIO are conducting a Spring campaign blitz from Monday May 18th until Saturday May 23rd. The goal is to ID voters on the issues that matter to them and their voting preferences. We are targeting three of the most competitive races in the nation, Iowa Congressional Districts 1, 2, and 3. Shifts | |
Mon May 13th - FriMay 22nd 12:00 pm -7:00 pm | SatMay 23rd 10:00 am - 5:00 pm |
Our goal is to knock a total of 6,660 doors and call 2,232 union households. This will give us an advantage when we start our Labor to Labor program later this summer.
The Iowa Labor Movement is stepping up in a BIG way May 18β23 through the Labor Spring Blitz, and AFSCME Council 61 and Chapter 61 Retirees need to show up strong alongside our labor union siblings across Iowa.
Other unions are already recruiting volunteers, filling shifts, and preparing for one of the first major labor mobilizations of the 2026 cycle. We cannot afford to sit on the sidelines while others carry the load for us.
If we want public employees to have a voice politically, if we want to protect public services, pensions, bargaining rights, and the future of our workplaces, then we need people willing to step up now.
We are asking every PEOPLE Committee member to sign up and help identify at least 5 volunteers to participate from your area or local. Even one shift helps. Even one conversation matters.
This is how we rebuild labor power in Iowa. Not by hoping someone else does it for us.

Shifts
Mon May 18th - Fri May 22nd 12:00 pm -7:00 pm
Sat May 23rd 10:00 am - 5:00 pm1
Our goal is to knock a total of 6,660 doors and call 2,232 union households. The National AFL-CIO will be designing and sending fliers for door knocking, as well as sending out postcards prior to the start of the Blitz. The walk lists will be generated by the Iowa Federation of Labor AFL-CIO, for those who wish to print the walk lists locally and distribute to different areas the lists can be emailed to the central location. This will give us an advantage when we start our Labor to Labor program later this summer.
If you have any questions about the program please contact Ben Murry or Al Womble. We will be following up with you in the coming weeks to find out how many shifts you can commit to. Making the political program run, takes YOU and your members. Time is ticking away - letβs do this!
